Chairs: the foot soldiers of the commercial bar furniture army

After selecting the rest of the furniture in your bar, its time to choose a template for the chairs in your bar. Depending on your choices for the remaining layout of your establishment, your options will be limited. If you’ve chosen a western look up until now, then consider going with carved wooden chairs with a dark finish. Stay consistent with the theme of your bar.
Regardless of the style you’ve chosen, its recommended that you invest in sturdy, durable chairs. Because alcohol lowers inhibitions, its not uncommon to see inebriated patrons standing or even dancing on chairs. While this varies from bar to bar, its still good practice to have chairs which will stand up to abuse.
As always, consider the type of customer you want to attract. What type of atmosphere are you trying to create in your bar? Some would advocate buying UNCOMFORTABLE chairs, to encourage people to get up and move around. Do this at your own risk. The last thing you want is to be known as the place with uncomfortable chairs!
